Shizeng Li is a lawyer with professional experience in both public security agencies and specialized criminal law firms, complemented by an academic background from the Law School of Renmin University of China. In the early years of his career, he served at a municipal public security bureau, handling investigations and legal affairs, where he gained deep insight into the discretional logic of judicial authorities and accumulated substantial frontline experience in law enforcement and case handling. After resigning from public service, he was admitted to Renmin University Law School, where he pursued a Master of Laws degree with a focus on criminal law and related interdisciplinary areas.
Upon graduation, Li joined a leading criminal defense law firm and participated in numerous major, complex, and challenging criminal cases. He emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, with a particular interest in cutting-edge issues and practical difficulties in the field of criminal law. His research has yielded several influential contributions to the profession. Notably, his article “Understanding and Applying Article 64 of the Criminal Law” was published in the core legal journal People’s Judiciary, and “On the Establishment of the Right to Counsel Presence in Criminal Proceedings” won first prize at the 2024 Annual Conference of the Criminal Defense Committee of the China Criminal Procedure Law Research Association. He has also authored dozens of legal practice articles on well-known platforms.
